Privacy Policy
This policy covers two things: the Aubel iOS app, and this marketing website (aubel.app). They have very different data practices, so both are explained separately below.
Aubel the app
The app does not collect any personal data. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.
No accounts. No sign-up, no login, no email field anywhere.
No analytics. No third-party SDKs report your usage to anyone.
No servers. The app never sends your data off your phone.
No tracking. No advertising identifiers, no pixels, no cross-app tracking.
Your data lives on your phone: alarms, interval and scale progress, settings, onboarding answers. Stored locally using iOS app storage. If you delete Aubel, that data is gone with it.
Permissions
Aubel asks for a few iOS permissions to do its job. None of them send data anywhere.
Notifications. Used to fire your alarms and the optional daily practise nudge. Local notifications only.
AlarmKit (iOS 26 and later). Used to schedule alarms that can wake your phone with a full-screen takeover, even during Focus. Apple handles this entirely on device.
Face ID. Used to protect your Screen Time settings inside Aubel so someone else can't disable a Focus restriction without you. Face ID runs in Apple's Secure Enclave. Aubel never sees your face data.
Family Controls and Screen Time. Used for the optional Focus feature, where Aubel can shield specific apps until you finish a training session. Apple's framework keeps the list of apps you select on your device. Aubel has no way to read or transmit it.
Children
Aubel is built for high school and college music students. It collects nothing from anyone of any age.
Third parties
The app does not share data with anyone because there is no data to share.
This website (aubel.app)
The marketing website is a different matter. It uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and navigate the site. Here is what that means in practice.
Google Analytics 4. We use Consent Mode v2 with regional defaults. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, analytics is denied by default; no data is collected unless you click Accept on the cookie banner. For visitors elsewhere, including the United States, analytics is granted by default; the cookie banner offers a Reject option to opt out at any time. When granted, GA4 collects: pages visited, time on page, device and browser type, approximate location from IP (country and city, not precise), and referring site or search query. Google processes this data on its own servers.
Cookies. Set by Google Analytics when consent is granted. For most regions, that's the default. For the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, cookies are only set after you click Accept on the banner. If you click Reject, no analytics cookies are set on this site.
Email signup (historical). Before the app launched in May 2026, the homepage offered an email signup for launch notification. Submitted addresses were stored in a Google Sheet via Google Apps Script and used only for the one-time launch notification. The signup is no longer offered. Stored addresses will not be used for any other purpose. To request deletion of your email from the historical list, email euan@maley.be and it will be removed within 5 business days.
Revoking consent. You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time. To do so, clear your browser cookies and site data for aubel.app, or use your browser's privacy settings. Your preference is stored in your browser's local storage under the key aubel-consent. Clearing site data removes it and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
If you are in the EEA or UK
We honor your rights under GDPR. You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it erased, restrict how it is processed, object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact euan@maley.be. Because the app collects no data and the website collects analytics data only with your consent, requests will typically be straightforward to fulfill.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear at this URL with an updated effective date.
